The One With the Weekly Slide Template (Pacing Guides)

I learned early on that I love to use google slides or other presentation types like Canva to help guide me through the lesson and keep me on task. I can also submit these each day on our classroom blog for student review and for those who are absent.

Weekly Slides Template

Day One

  • Essential Question Bell Ringer 5 minutes
  • Build Background 3 minutes
  • Discuss Essential Question Bell Ringer 2 minutes
  • Objectives/ Agenda 2 minutes
  • Words to Know 10 minutes
  • Preview Reading CAFE 4 minutes
  • Read Workshop Story ( Small Reading Book) 8 minutes
  • To Do List/ Clean Up 2 minutes

Day Two

  • Words to Know Bell Ringer 9 minutes
  • Bell Ringer Discussion 1 minute
  • Objectives/ Agenda 1 minute
  • Comprehension Skill Mini Lesson 5 minutes
  • I do/ We do/ They do 10 minutes
  • Discussion 2 minutes
  • Reading Groups 15 minutes
  • To Do List/ Clean Up 2 minutes

Day Three

  • Comprehension Skill Bell Ringer 5 minutes
  • Bell Ringer Discussion 1 minute
  • Objectives/ Agenda 1 minute
  • Vocabulary Strategy Mini Lesson 5 minutes
  • I do/ We do/ They do 10 minutes
  • Discussion 2 minutes
  • Reading Groups 15 minutes
  • Quizlet 5 minutes
  • To Do List/ Clean Up 2 minutes

Day Four

  • Vocabulary Strategy Bell Ringer 5 minutes
  • Bell Ringer Discussion 1 minute
  • Objectives/ Agenda 1 minute
  • Close Read Part 1 15 minutes
  • Reading Groups 15 minutes
  • Quizlet 5 minutes
  • To Do List/ Clean Up 4 minutes

Day Five

  • Words to Know Review Choice Bell Ringer 5 minutes
  • Words to Know Quick Review 1 minute
  • Objectives/ Agenda 1 minute
  • Close Read Part 2 15 minutes
  • Weekly Lesson Check & Words to Know Quiz 20 minutes (early finishers wrap up week and silent read)
  • To Do List/ Clean Up 4 minutes

Now I just need to plug in Words to Know, Reading CAFE, mini lessons and activities for all twenty-one stories for the school year.
